Hearstopper Vol 3

Nick reconciles with his friends Sai, Christian and Omar whilst Charlie comes out to his family. Charlie’s father sets some ground rules for him and Charlie. Nick’s brother David who is back from uni is giving him a hard time at home. Meanwhile, Charlie assures Nick to not hasten coming out lest he might be bullied just like Charlie was. He feels protective of Nick. The sixth-form students are excited about their Paris trip. Charlie is exhibiting PTS symptoms when he remembers the time he was collectively outed. Their relationship becomes stronger when they confess their deepest inhibitions to each other.

Heartstopper Vol 3 is intense and emotional in comparison to its previous counterparts. There is a good amount of romance and drama to balance it out. There are a lot of relationship dynamics explored in the book and Alice has given them enough space to bloom. We get to know our main characters better.  This particular volume sheds a light on the issues faced by teens of today. It maybe any teenager irrespective of their sexuality. The illustrations beautifully depict the museum in France.

My main takeaway from this series is how difficult it is for the members of the LGBTQ community to come out to their family and to themselves.
