She Stoops To Kill

The cover of the book caught my attention, with a bright pink colour that represents feminine energy and a woman’s face engraved on the handle of the knife. I was impressed by the conceptualization.

A cold blooded murder casts a pall of gloom in a bungalow decked for a wedding situated amidst the foggy hills. A male serial killer gets a kick by dismantling living bodies and derives sexual gratification from the kill sweats profusely when someone discovers his double life. The story is preceded by the murder of a glamorous stewardess, Ginny Kalra. Dino is driven to a point of lunacy thinking about a possible murder in ‘Beloved of Flowers’. The curtain closes on this edge of the seat anthology by a equally thrilling story that will make you shiver a little, bringing a chill down the spine.

‘Serial Killer’ precisely decodes the mind of a serial killer. The writing is sheer brilliance. ‘Beloved of Flowers’ satiated my thirst for lyrical prose.

Special mention to the story ‘A Murder in the Wedding Season’. It reminded me of the wedding season, how aunties thronged near the bride and her mother with their opinions. There was depth and dimensions even in the supporting characters.

Going by the cover, it was presumed that women sharpened their knives for the kill but I was wrong. There were female sleuths, morally grey protagonists, the femme fatale and of course the ones who went for the kill. The different writing styles employed by the authors was a treat to read. The USP of this anthology was the variety it offered.
