The author is a person who releases his emotions through poems, and he has written about various topics based on his experience. He has also drawn images related to the poems, which further illustrate what the author wants to to convey. He has also explained the meaning of the poems so that readers from all age groups can read and understand them. The poems are based on philosophy, nature, personal experiences, and observations of the events happening around him or the world. This book is suitable for all age groups. Hope you enjoy it.
Nowadays, I’m inclined towards reading more of anthologies than standalone novels. The reason for this is related to time crunch and uniform premise employed in the plot. Poetry anthologies are even shorter in comparison to short story anthologies. Re-reading them derives great pleasure.
‘Whisperings of a Common Man’ is an anthology of 20 poems mainly related to life and human behaviour.
It’s a short read that you can easily finish within an hour. Written in a simple language, which favours readers who don’t read poetry that often. I liked the title that is synonymous to one of the purposes of poetry which is emoting the deepest inhibitions and fantasies of an individual. There was no particular format for the construction of the verses. I felt the poem, ‘The Fire Within’ was the best of the lot. We have to channel the fire within towards achieving maximum productivity.
The author had even give the descriptions of all the poems, which was not needed at all. By describing the pieces, the essence in them was diluted. The sketches that were given pertaining to each poem, could have been enhanced to illustrate the meaning. The verses towards the end, didn’t have an aesthetic appeal and had considerable number of punctuation errors.
